Škoda worldwide

In 1895, our founders, Václav Laurin and Václav Klement, said, “Only the best we can do is good enough for our customers." Today, over 125 years later, this ongoing commitment has led Škoda to become one of Europe’s leading car manufacturers and enabled it to expand to over 100 countries worldwide.

The Škoda head office, in the Czech Republic, has grown to become one of the largest companies and a key player in the economy. In fact, we employ over 23,500 people, working with a further 265 subcontractors - making up 7.5% of all exports out of the Czech Republic.

Volkswagen group

In 1991, Škoda proudly joined the Volkswagen family. The Volkswagen Group is the largest car manufacturer globally. Volkswagen annually provides customers with an average of more than five million cars — about 12% of the world car market.

It’s a big family. The Group is made up of 12 brands from seven European countries: Volkswagen Passenger Cars, Audi, SEAT, Škoda, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Porsche, Ducati, Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles, Scania and MAN.

As you’d expect, it gets very busy. The Group operates 100 production plants in 19 European countries and a further eight countries in the Americas, Asia and Africa. Every weekday, 550,000 employees worldwide produce around 37,700 vehicles. The Volkswagen Group models are sold in more than 153 countries around the world.

Most importantly, it’s supportive. Since Škoda became a member of the Volkswagen Group, the brand has more than quintupled its deliveries to 939,200 cars in 2012. Today, Škoda is one of the most successful automobile brands, offering nine model lines and having established a presence in more than 100 countries worldwide.
