The New ŠKODA Superb - Technology

from 47,490

The latest technology for your enjoyment

More dynamism and more driving pleasure: the new ŠKODA Superb’s powertrains deliver fresh optimum values for consumption and performance.
The all-new generation of direct-injection turbocharged engines comprises two TSI petrol and two TDI common rail diesel engines, all compliant with EU6 emission standards.

If you need all-wheel drive, the new ŠKODA Superb is once again at your service. You can take your pick of two petrol and two diesel engines.

The heart of the matter...

With a completely new generation of engines based on state-of-the-art MQB technology, we have made the new ŠKODA Superb more powerful, more dynamic and yet more economical.

The compact, light powertrains have a power output of between 110 kW and 206 kW, and are fitted with stop-start technology and brake energy recovery as standard.

All-wheel drive

The New ŠKODA Superb is available with the latest version of the innovative Haldex clutch,
the Haldex 5.

Two engines (2.0 TDI/110 kW, 2.0 TSI/206 kW) are available with state-of-the-art all-wheel drive, guaranteeing optimal driving dynamics, the highest level of active safety and economical consumption.

Torque distribution to all four wheels is automatic and always depends on the driving environment. The ideal torque for the rear axle is calculated by the control unit. Adjustments are made by variable pressure on the clutch plates.

Green Technologies

The new ŠKODA Superb outperforms its competitors not only
in terms of its dynamics, but also leaves them trailing with its meagre fuel consumption and low CO2 emissions.
All engines are new, comply with EU6 emission standards and boast features including a Start-Stop System and brake energy recovery as standard.

The new Superb is the first ŠKODA to use active cylinder technology (ACT). In the 2.0 TDI/110 kW (150 bhp) engine, the combined consumption is 4.4 l/100 km, corresponding to 115 g CO2/km.
Brake energy recovery
What happens when energy is recovered? Kinetic energy is transformed into usable electricity, which is stored in the battery or used in electric systems. During engine braking, the alternator supplies the electricity to appliances and recharges the battery. This saves on the fuel that would otherwise be used for these tasks.
Active Cylinder Technology (ACT)
ACT means that the second and third cylinders are temporarily shut down. In two-cylinder mode, the engine runs more efficiently. Depending on the driving style, the technology can lower consumption by more than 0.5 l/100 km. ACT is activated in an engine speed range between 1,400 and 4,000 rpm, at a torque of between 25 and 100 Nm and at velocities of up to
130 km/h.
Start-Stop system
The idea of the Start-Stop system is to switch the engine off every time there is no need for it to be running, a particularly practical feature in an urban environment, where it cuts down significantly on fuel consumption. The Start-Stop system is activated automatically after the engine is started and can be manually switched off at any time.
Gear recommendation
The right choice of gear ratio can save fuel and increase driving comfort. Lower engine speeds equate to lower fuel consumption and quieter engine operation. The symbols in the upper right corner of the display either confirm that the current gear is correct or recommend changing up or down a gear.
Eco Mode (Driving Mode Select)

One of the modes offered by the Driving Mode Selection system is Eco – a mode for environmentally conscious drivers who make economical driving a priority. A specific feature of the Eco mode is coasting mode in cars with automatic DSG transmission. Coasting mode is used when you are driving without your foot on the accelerator.*

*Some of the specifications might be optional.

Active Air Blades
Active Air Blades reduce aerodynamic resistance and therefore cut down on the new Superb‘s consumption and emissions. If the engine or the air conditioning is not working at full blast, the vents close and the stream of air hugs the vehicle body, resulting in lower losses. Active Air Blades also help to heat up the engine faster from a cold start.

The new ŠKODA Superb is large inside
and out.

ŠKODA designers have successfully balanced out the new Superb’s proportions, delivering harmony in width, height and length.

In terms of space, the ŠKODA Superb has been in a league of its own since its market launch. The 2,841 mm wheelbase and the tracks measuring 1,584 mm at the front and 1,572 mm at the rear markedly improve the interior space for the passenger and luggage compartments.
