Auckland, 7th April 2016 - ŠKODA New Zealand remains in the fast lane. March 2016 saw vehicle sales increase by 40% to 126 vehicles (March 2015: 90), the highest ever monthly sales figure for ŠKODA in New Zealand
"ŠKODA has had a strong start to the year", says Greg Leet, ŠKODA's General Manager. "Our sales remain at a high level across the country. We are pleased with the continued positive development of our new models and the future looks very bright indeed as we eagerly anticipate our entry into the large SUV segment in 2017".
The ŠKODA Fabia and ŠKODA Superb, both introduced in 2015, are doing particularly well and have been in high demand during the first quarter of the year.
2015 was also a very good year for ŠKODA. The brand sold more cars than ever before, delivering 1006 vehicles, representing a 19% growth over 2014 (passenger market result was 5% growth).
ŠKODA's success in 2015 has continued seamlessly into 2016. After an outstanding performance for March 2016, the brand has achieved a record quarter with 328 sales. This is a 30% increase when compared with first quarter results from 2015.
Worldwide, the company keeps setting records year on year. In 2015, for the second year in a row, ŠKODA sold more than 1 million vehicles worldwide. The growth is set to continue and the company is planning further growth in 2016 with the introduction of the new ŠKODA 7- seater SUV, which will be launched towards the end of the year globally.
The company's success continued into the beginning of 2016. By the end of February, ŠKODA's global sales had climbed 4.5% to 170,300 vehicles, setting a new record for the first two months of a year.
