For ŠKODA, electric vehicles are more than just cars with an alternative power source. They open up an entirely new chapter in our 125-year history. This is also an opportunity to introduce you to the world of environmentally friendly iV label models and their fully connected ecosystem, making eMobility as straightforward and convenient as possible for you. And that’s just the beginning. By 2025, ŠKODA AUTO will offer five fully electric vehicles. Expect more fun, less emissions, more possibilities and less restrictions. Join us on our journey into the future!
The ‘i’ in the name of the new label symbolises that ŠKODA iV models are ‘innovative’ and ‘intelligent’, offering tailor‑made mobility solutions. ŠKODA iVs are also ‘iconic’ and ‘inspiring’ with their emotive design full of character. They are ‘individual’ in trim levels and customisation options. All ŠKODA iVs distinguish themselves with their ‘intuitive’ operation. The ‘V’ stands for vehicle.
Times are changing. It’s time for new technologies to serve mankind first, the days of mindless overconsumption are over. It’s time for surprising, clever ideas that add a touch of magic to the everyday routine. It’s time to act human, and to put more fun into existence. It’s time to RECHARGE LIFE. Are you with us?
Our entry into the eMobility era is a key pillar of our “GreenFuture” sustainability strategy. Under that strategy, we have set specific environmental targets for our products and vehicle production. One example is the 30% reduction in our fleet’s CO2 emissions between 2015 and 2025. The transformation from combustion engines to electric cars is an essential lever for this.
We are investing in alternative drive systems and new mobility services such as car‑sharing platforms. By the end of 2022, we will have introduced more than ten electrified models, thus establishing the ŠKODA iV family. More than 11,000 employees are already trained in electric car production.
ŠKODA iV models make eMobility Simply Clever – offering quick charging, long ranges, affordable prices and nimble dynamics. The ŠKODA iV range perfectly exemplifies how we will move you into the future: with intelligence, efficiency and fun.
On Sunday 13th June 2021, the Government announced the Clean Car Rebate to make it more affordable for Kiwis to own an Electric Vehicle. The programme provides rebates for electric and plug-in hybrid electric vehicles registered between 1st July and 31st December this year.
Vehicles with a maximum purchase price of $80,000 (incl GST and ORC’s) are eligible, and rebates include up to $5,750 for new PHEV vehicles.

All electrified iV models feature state-of-the-art Li-ion battery technology with the highest possible energy density, developed with safety as our highest priority. Our Battery Management System ensures optimal performance over thousands of charging cycles.
Battery electric vehicles rely solely on electric motors for propulsion. They derive their electricity primarily from charging points and store it in battery packs. The key benefits of electric vehicles are that they emit no emissions, they run silently, offer nimble dynamics, and servicing them is not so complex.
What makes plug-in hybrid vehicles different from BEVs is that they combine a classic internal combustion engine with an electric motor which can be recharged from an electrical outlet. The PHEV can be driven in pure electric mode, but the range is limited to 50 to 60 kilometres. The result is low fuel consumption and a quiet electric drive, especially around the city.
The eMobility lifestyle is teeming with advantages, and as the electric revolution grows, it’s only going to get better.
There’s no disputing the environmental benefits of eMobility: lowering our reliance on fossil fuels while producing less air pollution as we travel. People in cities with higher concentrations of electric cars also enjoy a much lower degree of noise pollution.
eMobility isn’t only about saving the environment—it also comes with a healthy amount of savings for the wallet. With lower fuel and maintenance costs than cars with combustion engines, electric vehicles present a far more attractive value for owners.
When you drive a plug-in hybrid it makes the most of wasted energy. The energy created by braking is converted and stored in the Li-ion battery for later use.
