Keeping kids entertained during lockdown

It can be difficult to keep kids entertained when everything is closed and there is nowhere to go. Here are a few simple ideas and activities to help keep kids busy and happy inside your bubble.

Making bubble time fun

It can be hard for younger children to understand the importance of keeping distance between people outside your own 'bubble' while getting outside. We've had some ideas from parents in our team on how they keep kids close by when needed: 1. Announce different formations when you need to get in line to pass people by - shortest to tallest, oldest to youngest, who has the next birthday, etc. 2. Expend extra energy by having kids complete a quick exercise before having to come in close again - 2x starjumps, hopping on one leg, or completing a running circle of the bubble. 3. Having a 5-step rule - staying no more than 5 steps away (especially when there are a number of other people about).

Easy no-yeast pizza

How does pizza sound tonight? Here's a quick and easy no-yeast recipe: Combine 1 1/3 cups of flour, 1 teaspoon of baking powder, and 1/2 a teaspoon of salt in a bowl. Mix in 1/2 a cup of milk and 2 tablespoons of olive oil until a soft dough forms. Knead the dough on a lightly floured surface. Shape the dough into a ball and cover for 10 minutes, then roll into a circle for and bake at 200 degrees for 8 minutes. Cover with your favourite toppings and bake again until golden brown, for about 15-20 minutes. Yum!
