Join Victoria and her family on their road trip to Greytown!

Victoria Faith

As a busy mum of young kids, Victoria is no stranger to seven-seater cars. With a family getaway booked in Greytown, she needed a safe, comfortable and reliable car and was eager to put the Skoda Kodiaq through its paces. Despite the wind and rain lashing Wellington, Victoria was excited to collect the Kodiaq to drive for the weekend, ready to test it in the harshest of weather conditions.

Jumping into the car, the beautiful interior and changing LED ambient lighting was impossible to miss. Victoria was impressed with the high tech feel of the Kodiaq, and all of the features that she was unaccustomed to; everything felt like it had a place and would be of convenience as a busy mum. The wireless charging port was a standout - and super handy for the weekends drive ahead, especially as Victoria tested out the Car Play feature, needing to be able to charge her phone as she followed maps on the state-of-the-art infotainment system on the adventure to their Air BnB in Greytown.

Seatbelt secured and Victoria felt like she was sitting nice and high in the driver's seat, making her feel safe and at ease while driving a new car. Having picked up the kids from kindy, Victoria was impressed with how spacious it was even with the car seats fitted in the back - there was plenty of space in the back and also plenty of legroom still in the front. An extra bonus of all of that space was that the kids were far enough apart to not irritate one another!

With the kids happily in their car seats, Victoria needed to pack the car ready to head off for the weekend. Horrid rain was still pouring down, so Victoria used her foot to trigger the handsfree boot sensor, which made packing the car so much easier while she was trying to carry as many items as possible in the least amount of time. The spacious boot accommodated all the things needed for the weekend, everything from bags, enough food for a few days, to even a spare mattress rolled up, all fitted seamlessly into the Kodiaq without compromising comfort.

It was time to then set off on the drive to Greytown. Rain still pelting down meant that visibility was low, and the roads were slippery. Going over the Remutaka hill to Wairarapa, Victoria felt perfectly safe in the Kodiaq - the car felt powerful and smooth to drive. It was the perfect opportunity to test some of the other interior features of the Kodiaq - the voice control function read her messages aloud, and meant she could reply and send messages using her voice, a useful safety feature.

What would have been a challenging drive in such bad conditions, turned out to be comfortable and smooth thanks to the Kodiaq. Arriving safely at Greytown, Victoria was eager to see how the Kodiaq performed in the setting of narrower roads and city streets.

Saturday was the perfect opportunity to take the kids to a local playground and meet with family. Zipping around Greymouth was a breeze getting to the playground, with the Kodiaq’s comfortable suspension. The sun was shining, and quality time was spent together as a family. As the weekend drew to a close, and it was time to head back to Wellington, Victoria was amazed at how easy it was to drive the Kodiaq. She felt safe driving it, something very important to her as a mother, often driving with family on board. The Kodiaq was simply in a league of its own - a premium version of a seven-seater, making for a stress-free and fun experience.
