ŠKODA met with great success in Geneva

3/20/2012
The new Citigo on display was the main hit of this year’s Geneva Motor Show, and other ŠKODA models also received due attention from visitors.
The 82nd International Motor Show in Geneva came to a close on Sunday, March 18. ŠKODA made a highly successful showing at this prestigious European motor show and its booth was extremely popular with journalists on press days as well as visitors to the motor show on days it was open to the public.

Citigo and Yeti at centre stage
The new Citigo attracted the most attention, of course, at its motor show premiere. The three-door and five-door versions were constantly surrounded by inquisitive visitors, who thoroughly examined the exterior and especially interior of the car.
Switzerland is a country simply made for four-wheel drive. And so besides the Citigo, the Yeti also received a great deal of attention from visitors. There was no shortage of visitors eager to try out both the driver’s seat and the passenger side of the successful SUV.
Of course, the other ŠKODA models on display also received their fair share of attention from the public, including the brand’s flagship, the Superb, which was displayed in Geneva with the Laurin & Klement luxury pack. Motor sport fans had the opportunity to take an up close look at two Fabia Super 2000 special editions, which called attention to the success of the ŠKODA Motorsport team in the IRC and S-WRC rally series.
Successful Accompanying Program

Besides the displays themselves, the outstanding accompanying program also contributed to the popularity of the ŠKODA booth. During the program a troupe of German gymnasts performed a spectacular athletic routine for spectators several times a day (see the Photo Gallery). Particularly impressive was the jump over the open front doors of the Citigo, performed by the young gymnasts’ trainer, Khoa Huynh. Spectators greeted the performance of the other members of the troupe with enthusiastic applause as well.
The Czech influence
ŠKODA cars did not appear just at the Mladá Boleslav manufacturer’s booth, however. For instance, the Czech company EVC presented electric versions of the Superb and Roomster in the outside Green Pavilion. Visitors could even take a ride in the Roomster on the nearby test track in Sarasin Park. An Octavia Combi police car was stationed at the entrance to the motor show parking lot, “patrolling” the event.
The ŠKODA brand definitely made its mark and this year’s international motor show can be considered a rousing success.
