The term “plug-in hybrid” tells us that the Superb iV’s battery can be recharged from the mains after connecting a charging cable – at home, at work, or even at a shopping centre – either from a regular outlet or via a powerful wallbox for faster charging. A flat battery can be recharged in 3 hours 30 minutes with a 3.6 kW wallbox. Another possibility is to recharge or maintain the level of charge in the battery while driving, using the petrol engine and brake energy recovery.

A standard-fit mode 2 cable is used for normal household outlets and can fully charge the battery in 5 hours. The Superb iV can also optionally be fitted with a mode 3 fast-charging cable for charging from a wallbox installed, for example, in a garage. Both types of cable can fit easily in a dedicated storage compartment in the boot.

The standard-fit driving mode select offers three additional new modes to take full advantage of all the iV's capabilities. Pressing the e-mode button powers the car purely with electricity. In hybrid mode, the electronics automatically regulate the interaction between the petrol engine and the electric motor. If you press the sport dynamic mode button, the car offers you a maximum power of 160 kW.
